Engine Cooling problem
1996 Saturn SL2 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

It appears my water pump is leaking coolant badly... what is the best way to access this area? or how do I replace the gasket and stop the leak?

just change the pump its usually the pump leaking from the shaft i hardly every see the gasket leaking.to acess the pump get a floor jack with a block of wood on the head of it.put it under the oil pan jack the jack up againist the pan then remove the upper mount then u can jack the engine up and get to belt and the pump.loosen the three 10mm bolts up holding the pulley on before u take the belt off.u can also turn the wheel to the right and remove the plastic side panel to acess the bottom water pump bolts jack the engine up and down as needed to get acess.dont forget to drain the coolant before u start taking the pump off.let me know how it goes.
