1996 Saturn SL2 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i just did a mager tune up on my saturn did the valve cover gasket and I still have oil around the spark plug but it is only in 1&3 plug hole I pulled out the plugs and the oil draind I than put thim back and had white smoke coming out of the tailpipe and than it went away the check engin lite went off but now its back I need help. Thanks.

Not a good way to clean out the oil in your spark plug well's by letting it drop in the plug hole's like that you could damage your engine that way. So is the oil back or the check engine light?
