1995 Saturn SL2 car won't start

Suddenly, my engine won't start. When I turn the key, lights go on and there is a low ignition sound, but it doesn't start right.

I just drove the car yesterday evening with no problem at all. My daughter went to the car afterward at night and came back and said the locks weren't working right.
