Hello,

My Saturn SL is racing between gears, and I expect it will bring early doom for my clutch. When I pull up to a stopsign, the engine is still racing at 2000 rpm even tho I'm standing still. Then after about 5 seconds or so, the RPM goes down to normal ( about 800 rpm). I've changed out the T-stat, as my coolant temp is a little low, but even at 1/4 scale, this bad behavior persists. Next I will change out the coolant temp sensor. Is there anything else I should look at? By The Way -- no codes!!

I would also take out ur idle air control valve and clean it and the passage way it goes into.also check the engine for vaccuum leaks especially around the number 1 and 2 intake manifold gasket look at the gasket u can usually see I all wrinkled up.spray some carb spray around every where there could be leaks the intake manifold gasket vaccuum lines etc with the car at idle if the rpms goes up or down or stumbles or dies u have a leak.let me know what u find.
