I had the same issue with my 93 Saturn SL1. My Timing Chain Shattered and when I looked into it further the valves was bent. Dont worry you dont need to junk the car. I took the head out and took it to the local machine shop and it cost me less than 250 to have the head redone and the valves being replaced. Once I got the head put in my car and the engine back together, after the power from the battery got to where it needed to be, the car fired right up.

So if you take the wires off your coil on number 1 and 4 and crank the engine over do you get a spark between those two coil posts? If you do then do a compression test on all the cylinders. If you don't then let me know.
