Engine Performance problem
1991 Saturn SL1 190000 miles

I have just recently purchased a used saturn 5 speed. It seems to idle quite high when in neutral or when shifting gears. Is there something I can do to try and fix this or at least help it out???

its usually a vaccuum leak.for a vaccuum leak i would check the hose going to pcv for holes.also check all the hoses to the back of the throttle body.and the vaccuum plate where the hoses attaches its plastic and warpes causing a vaccuum leak.make sure all ur throttle bolts are tight they loosen up all the ones around the throttle body opening even the torx ones.u can also spray some carb spray around everywhere looking for a vaccuum leak if the idle goes down or up or the engine stumbles or dies u have a leak there.how high is ur idle?let me know.
