1999 Saturn SC2 raditor gauge will not register correctly

After my car has been running for a while the raditor gauge will not register correctly and I have had the reservor change and the cap and still the gauge does not read correctly. What could be the problem

if coolant temperature gauge is reading incorrectly then you need to check the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.

Thank you I had the ECT sensor change and that fixed the problem.
