Engine Mechanical problem
1994 Saturn SC1 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1994 Saturn and I would like to rebuild the engine ive had the car for 4 years and I love how it drives. I want to know how much it would cost me to rebuild the engine so the miles will start at 0. Ive replaced alot on the engine in the past im mostly just concerned on the engine block. I have a new battery, alternator, and some other new parts I cant think of off the top of my head. But I want to rebuild the engine block it has about 120,000 miles on it now. I dnt have the money to go out and buy a new car so I figured it would be cheapest to fix the one I have.

Hello,

First off, how much experience do you have working on car? I ask because rebuilding the block is quite a job. You will have to pull the engine out, then take everything off the engine, then you will need to remove the Pistons, to replace the Piston Rings, you will need to have the Crank Shaft Jurnels check for size and uniformity and to get the right size Rod Bearings also the Crank Bearings then the Cam Bearings. And all has to be exact or it will be a waste of time.

If you don't have enough experience I would suggest you look into purchasing a reman engine.

Below is an exploded view of an engine Not Your specifically but give you an Idea of what is involved.
