So I only had this car for a mounth and the day after I past emmisions and got plates insurance all that stuff my girl call me that that day it over heated. It's a 97 4 door Saturn sohc that has been running great till now. Day before it over heated I noticed it had very dark coolent so I bought coolent I could change it that weekend. So it over heats and I buy a thermostat but when I was draining the coolent it was full of oil almost all oil which explains why it needed another quart every couple weeks. The Oil looks fine it isn't like chocolate milk or anything so I think that might rule out head gasget, I don't know but I really need to fix it this weekend so I would really appreciate any help or suggestions I could get. Thanx Pat

Sorry, but it sounds like u have a cracked head. If your good with tools check out www. Cylinder-heads. Com. I had the same probem on my son's 96 Saturn and bought a new head from Clearwate Cylinder Head Inc 18005721963. They ship quick and have a quality head at a very good price. Don't try it unless your good with tools. These engines are a real pain to work on. It took me 2 days to change the head on my son's Saturn but it ran great when I was done.

Yeah I already got it in the mail, but I couldn't believe that a gasget kit cost like 100 buck for that thing. I'm no machanic but luckly my father in law is and I bought the repair manual. Thanks for reply though. By the wak I found this forum where about 5 - 6 people all talk about the exact same thing happening to the late 90's saturns. They said that saturn new they were putting out cars with bad heads but didn't do any thing about it. One the the guys on there was a lawer and is taking action want's people who have had the problem to talk with him. I'm not really in to that but it's pretty crazy that saturn did that.
