The car has had problems starting in the winter and has always taken a little bit before it starts. Now the car won't start at all and when I try to turn it over it makes a high pitch noise that kind of sounds like a drill. I wanted to know if it could possibly be the starter drive from excessive tries to start in winter. Also could the spark plugs have anything to do with it.

This is just a guess but, a high pitched whining that sounds like a drill.....sounds like the starter is not engaging the flywheel - which means it's not spinning the engine. This could be a pretty good reason why the car won't start.

With the hood open, have someone watch as you crank the engine. Look for the belt to turn and see if things spin around. If they don't the starter is not engaging.
