I RECENTLY HAD MY ALTERNATOR AND SERPENTINE BELT REPLACED, I WENT TO START THE CAR AND THE KEY SLIPPED AND I LET GO BEFORE IT TURNED OVER, IT WAS ABOUT TO TURN OVER THOUGH. SO I TURNED THE KEY BACK AND TRIED AGAIN, NOTHING, NO REPSONSE WHATSOEVER; NO SOUND. THE LIGHTS ARE ALL BRIGHT IN THE CAR THE CAR DOES NOTHING, THE CLOCK HOWEVER I NOTICED CHANGED TIME AND WENT TO 12:00 AFTER? BUT IT IS ON AND FINE? THE STARTER I HAVE IN THE CAR IS ONLY 8MONTHS OLD? I AM THINKING PERHAPS A STARTER RELAY SWITCH? WOULD THAT KEEP THE CAR FROM EVEN TRYING TO START? THERE IS A SLIGHT SOUND WHEN YOU TURN THEKEY BUT NOT THE CLICKING SOUND THAT USUALLY INDICATED A BAD STARTER ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE A LIGHTSWITCH TURNING ON OR OFF?

I would start by ensuring that all connections, cables, wires etc. Are tight and in good working order (I know. Checking the alternator is a tuff one) also, ensure that the battery is fully charged and in good working order. Make sure that the new belt is routed correctly and tensioner set.

If all that checks out, do a battery test, a charging test and a starting system test. My guess is you will find a loose connection or something like that. Good luck!
