2001 Saturn L200 how to change tranny filter

Transmission problem
2001 Saturn L200 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My tranny is shifting a little funny. I took it in to a shop and was told I needed a filter change. I was told my husband could do this. I thought that my saturn had a closed tranny system which needed to be serviced by a dealer or tranny shop.

There is a transmission pan on the bottom of the transmission if you remove all the bolt's and take that pan off the fluid will come out and the filter is under that. You change the fluid every 50,000 mile's. So is your transmission shifting hard?Also go to a auto part's store like auto zone and see what code number's you have and let me know what they are.

Went to AutoZone and they said there were no codes. My husband got a filter and fluid. He is going to change them. He usually does all our car repairs except tranny. Will it be hard to get new fluid in

You should have gotten 7qt's of dextron 3 it will take 6.9qt's to refill i posted how to check the fluid level because there is no dipstick to check the level.You don't have to take those hose's off like it say's.I also posted the diagram of where the fill hole is and the level plug is.To fill it you need a long funnel you will have to just push aside the power steering lines to get the funnel in the fill hole.So does the transmission shift hard?
