900 alternator removal

I have a 1997 Saab 900 with an I4, 95k miles. The alternator is not charging requiring replacement. The upper mounting bolt for the alternator is unaccessible or difficult at the least. I have a repair maual and have removed the plastic inner fender on the lower portion of the wheel well. Any suggestions for accessing this bolt or special tools.

Thanks,

Joe

Those universal sockets are pretty handy the ones that are an actual socket. They allow good maneuverability. However, I am unaware as to how to do it any way but the hard way.

remove the belt tensoiner and you will find a 7 or 9mm allen bolt the bolt won't come out by its self you will have to leave it in the alternator and put back in the new one before you reinstall the dealer only calls for an hour to replace it its a real lunch eater
