A few days ago my car wouldn't start. Sounded like the battery so I had it jumped. It worked fine and then today the car was starting, but would shut down right after it started. Tried a few times and was no longer able to even get it to turn over. I tried having it jumped again, and it started but shut down again. So I replaced the battery and it still does the same thing. What do you think it is. Thought alternator, but not sure. Don't want to buy another part that isn't going to work.

Your problem is coming from somewhere else do below to dtermine if its fuel or spark related problems

Disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor /distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, ECM, Ignitor camshaft and crankshaft sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
