2000 9-3, 4cyl - periodically won't start out of the blue. Everything else works ie lights, radio, fans, but nothing going to the starter. After sitting for a while everything is back to normal and starts right up. My guess is a relay or something because the the alarm gets sensitive and sometimes the doors lock by themselves. Help?

hello certainly sounds to me like you have an immobiliser fault, could also be your key(linked to immobiliser system) have your key checked first or alternatively use a spare, failing key cheeck your ignition switch itself for faulty connections ,when the car fails to start is the immobiliser light flashing??if so then thats your problem in my opinion its unlikely to be a relay fault hope this helps regards irishmobilemechanic

did you ever get this figured out? If so, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU DID! I've tried new fuel pump, relay, crank position sensor, ignition wires tightened, all keys, new batteries in key fobs. Nothing works. By the way, this only happens in the summer. I'm not kidding. It started last summer, but was fine in fall, winter and spring. Now summer is here again I've had it towed 3 different times. Argh.

It's probably the Neutral Safety Switch - seems to be a common problem and is happening to mine. Part is $300+ but you can bypass the switch...which is what I am hoping to do.
