10 days ago I had the oil changed. 3 days ago the Vue started making a loud clanking noise. I took it to a mechanic who told me the oil was filthy and the motor shot. Wants $5000 for new one.
I took it to Sears where the oil was changed. They told me there was a strong smell of gas in the oil. They said I have some options and the motor may not be shot.
Who do I believe?

That's a hard question to answer I couldn't see the oil or smell if it smelled like gas. Do you change your oil regulary?How long have you had it.

I change the oil every 3000 to 5000 miles.
I have had the car 8 yrs.

Then if they changed the oil I wouldn't think it would be totally black in a few days. Is the oil still in the car?

After speaking with the mechanic we are goung to junk it. They are talking about replacing all the oil engine adding Lukas. Then replacing the injectors and rod. That might work at a cost of $2000+.
