I actually have a Bentley Continental R but the engine and most of the mechanics are interchangable with 93 Rolls Royce.
The fuel gauge stopped working. I am not a rich man -- I am restoring a salvaged Bentley. Is there any chance a fuel additive will "unstick" the sender in the tank (if that is the problem) or some inexpensive thing to look for first before lowering the tank?

have you checked in the trunk or underneath the back seat for access to the fuel pump and the fuel sender? high-dollar cars like that will have access without having to pull the fuel tank.
