On my vehicle listed above, I've had all of the symptoms of a failing cam/crankshaft sensor (bad mileage, loss of power, erratic fuel gage, rich exhaust, etc.). So, I have decided to replace both sensors. I know that you don't have to program the camshaft sensor, but I've read that you do have to train the camshaft sensor. I don't have the Scan II tool and don't want to go to a garage for something so silly if I don't have to. I've read that I might be able to remove the battery cables, one or the other, for some time and/or remove the PCM fuse/relay. Has anyone had this issue or found a solution to this? Or do I even need to program the crankshaft sensor? Also, is that the Power train Control Module sensor? Please help! With gas getting higher and higher, I'm getting desperate! Thank you for checking out my post.

Hi,

There is a variation relearn procedure when you replace the crankshaft position sensor. However, it will require a scanner. It won't prevent the engine from running. I attached the directions below.

Let me know what is happening with the vehicle.

Take care,

Joe
