Renault megan, knocking sound on passenger side

Megane, 1.6 P reg (1997) 104,000miles

there is a knocking sound coming from the passenger side wheel or just the passenger side, slightest dip, bump, in the road and it knocks. It has 12monts test on it and im quite surprised that it passed the mot as I have only had it about 2 weeks. Also the breaks are squeaking on the drivers side.

the fail sheet on the mot said that there was a prob with suspension and the break pads were worn past the requirement, then there is a sheet (the actual MOT sheet) confirming its pass, the old owner assured me that the cat had been replaced, the breaks and the suspension done but it would seem not I think,

any ideas on the knocking?
