2001 Renault Laguna lost reverse gear

2001 Renault Laguna 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 127000 miles
I recently stalled the car while reversing up hill its stopped with a thump the car has always shuddered while reversing uphill, all forward gears are working fine when you select reverse and let the clutch up the gear box just grinds as if it was not properly in gear any idea what could be wrong !!! Les

you need to have the gearbox inspected i'm afraid .. it is not engaging reverse correctly inside the gearbox ... you could check the gear linkages on top the gearbox under the bonnet to be sure !!
