I recently was having some problems all of a sudden it started running really rough and obviously misfiring I took it in to get the code red and it confirmed I misfires in cylinder 2. I troubleshooted it immediately by looking at the plugs and noticed they had oil and all the wells, so I replaced the valve cover gasket and Tube seals which was obviously what was making the oil get in there by the shape of it when I saw it. I also replaced all the plugs and cleaned off the tubes and coils. It is still running very rough and misfiring although not as much still unacceptable though, and I'm thinking of replacing the coil on cylinder 2 as my next step I just wanted to confirm that that would be a good next step to take? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,

Chances are it is the coil that is failing or has failed. To confirm, switch the cylinder 2 coil with one of the others. Clear the codes and see if the misfire moves to a different cylinder. If it does, replace the coil pack. If it doesn't, let me know and we'll start checking the electrical end of the ignition.

I don't know if you need them, but I attached the directions for replacing a coil on this vehicle.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe

I don't have access to a code reader here at the house, but I did order a new coil. It'll be here in the morning. So, I will let you know after that how it goes. Thank you very much for answering.

Sorry it took so long I must have forgotten for a while, but I'm pleased to report that that fixed the problem it was the coil 100% and I'm glad actually that. I fixed everything but the coil first because that gasket was so destroyed it, I would have been having major problems any day. Thanks for your help, have a good one.

Hi,

Thanks for the update, and don't worry about the delay. It seems we all have too many things on our minds anymore.

Regardless, I'm glad to know the problem is resolved. Please feel free to come back anytime in the future if you have questions.

Take care and Happy Thanksgiving.

Joe
