When the wire from convenience center is wiggled the blower will come on but the wire gets hot when the motor is on high. Power from the convenience center to blower motor for rear A/C.

Hi,

I need to know the color of the wire you are moving to make it work. The idea that it is getting hot is usually an indication of either a failing blower motor, resistance in the wire or a connector, or a faulty ground.

Let me know the wire color so I can locate it and trace it. Also, there are two systems this can have. One is only for rear A/C. The other has rear A/C and Heat. I attached a wiring schematic below for the A/C only. If that is what you have, let me know if you see the wire in question. Also, I wanted you to have it as a reference.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

See pics below. Note: I highlighted wires that I felt are relevant.

Just installed a new blower motor. It is the red wire going into convenience center and it does have heat and air.

Hi,

The red wire I'm finding goes to the convenience center then through the firewall to the battery junction box. It's a fusible link. See pic below

If I had to guess (without being there) either we have an issue at the firewall or the fusible link itself is having issues.

Since you replaced the motor, does the wire still get hot?

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, and the wire still gets hot on the inside under the dash at the convenience center where it attaches to the convenience center. How does the red wire attach to the convenience center inside the vehicle under the dash?

Hi,

I attached the only pic I could find for the convenience center. Either the connection will run via a harness directly to the bulkhead connector or it will be connected to the convenience center.

If that wire is still getting hot, we either have a resistance issue within the wire itself, the blower motor (which has been replaced) is drawing too much amperage, or we have a weak connection causing arcing, which creates heat.

Let me know.

Joe
