1998 Porsche Boxster Oil light is Flashing

Engine Cooling problem
1998 Porsche Boxster 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 72,000 miles

I have not used the car for 6 months and when I turned it on:
• The Oil light is flashing (blinking), however the engine’s temperature stays a tad above 180 degrees.
• Oil level seems to be OK it had a recent oil change.

Does anyone know the reason for the blinking of the oil warring light?

I dont suggest running the engine any longer until a manual oil pressure gauge can be installed to verify that it does have oil pressure. It may just be a faulty oil pressure switch/sender, but until the actual pressure can be verified I wouldnt drive it or possible internal engine damage could occur

Oil pressure lights don't usually flash. Are you sure you are not looking at the coolant light flashing. Its the one to the right of the coolant gauge. It may be just low on coolant. There may be a coolant leak.
