Does the fuel rail come off in one or two pieces?

One piece, you could take it apart if you would like proper tools but i wouldnt.

yes it can

The fuel rail comes out in one piece. It takes a lot of pulling and wiggling since it is in there pretty tight. After you remove the electrical connectors from each injector, remove the two bolts that hold the rail down. The injectors have a metal wire underneath each one. Squeeze the wire up to release the connector. You will also have to remove the fuel lines from the driver side of the rail. The rail will take quite a bit of prying but be careful of the clips that hold the injector onto the rail because these can snap. I have not been able to find an inexpensive source for the clips, but you can buy a "retainer kit" that contains the clips for about $40 at a Pontiac dealer. I'm not sure how necessary the clips are because the two bolts hold the rail securely.
