Noises problem
2004 Pontiac Sunfire Automatic 40,000 miles

I have a 2004 sunfire with 40,000 miles that recently began making a slight creaking noise in the front drivers side whenever I hit bumps or uneven pavement. I took the car in to have the front end inspected for loose/broken parts, but the mechanic found nothing wrong. I'm trying to figure out what the source of the noise is, because it sounds slightly ominous and makes me nervous.

One area to check on those are the control arm bushings. Not hearing it makes it tough.

I have a sunfire too with the same year and mileage. I just took it to a shop with the same complaint, (creeking noise when you hit bumps). Who ever told you nothing is wrong, was wrong. The car doesn't make that noise for no reason. I'd take a look at the exhaust hanger. That was my problem, due to the pot holes all around Massachusetts these days, my hanger snapped off, causing that creeking noise, which bugged the crap out of me. Needless to say the noise is gone now. So good luck!

Check out your strut mounts. Apparently mine weren't connected properly when the car was on the line. Go figure!

Unfortunatly. The cars been in the shop 3 times for the same issue now. Last time they found this problem, but only repaired half the car!
