Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 17400k miles

I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire 2.4l the car will not start it turns over. the fuel pump will not work but if I do a hot wire from the battery straight to the fuel pump it starts.I have checked all fuses and relays they are good . This car has a anti theft system installed at factory could this be the problem I get no engine lights that come on for service or check engine there are no engine codes that say there is a problem.when the computer to read codes is hooked up .At times the car will start with out having the hot wire from the battery other times it will not any ideas would the main cpu be the problem or or could tis be the ecu I also changed the map sensor out .Or could this be the anti theft system thank you

Just talked to the dealer ship they say that the sensor on the key egnition lock were you put your key in to start the car might be bad and with system check and new lock and to code it will cost about 400.00 canadian is this true

If its the alarm system then will not fire up for you when u hot wire the fuel pump
I would check fuel pump relay
oil pressure switch
ignition switch
try this
turn key on does the fuel pump
if not cycle key again does it make any difference if yes
suspect ignition switch
