1999 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Automatic

The car check engine light came at the same time the speedomter stopped working. It also has problem of shifting out of the lower geers and the rpm's staying too high.

You need to go to a auto part's store like auto zone and have them scan your car for code's and let me know what the number's you have are. That is your starting point.

Derrick moss say's>I did and they said it was the speed sensor. I was wondering does this have anything to do with problem's I have mentioned.
