1996 Pontiac Sunfire Occasional overheating

Car overheats occasionally when driving. Never in Shop. Flushed twice, thermostat changed twice. Still happens. Fan runs. Shop (dealer) says not head gasket. Why is it overheating.

Take it back to the dealer and have them bleed the cooling system. If you're not physically boiling over could be the coolant temperature sensor misleading you.

No boilover. Begining to think the same. Not able to notice actual difference in temp standing over the motor. Need to try one of those fancy infrared temp sensors to verify.
