At 45 to 60 MPH the car goes fine through all the gears and when its in drive the car is a round 2000 RPM and when your at a constent speed it drops from 2000 RPMs to about 1500 RPMs and does this till you accelerate or shift from Drive down to 3rd gear, but if your on the intersate and can travle over 65 it doesn't happen. What could this problem be?

I had this problem in my automatic. I disconected a censor from it and it worked fine. I forget what it was called. My stepdad told me to remoe it so i did. It had something to do with the transmision locking itself at a certain RPM... if I hammered it to the floor it woudl shoot up past the 2000 RPMs..
