Engine Performance problem

I have a 1994 sunbird with a 2.0, (mpfi) that quit on the way to work the other day. It sputtered for a split second and died. I ran the diagnostics on it and it came up normal with no codes. I just figured it was a fuel issue. It just about starts when initially turned over, but then it just turns over. I've ran checks on multiple things but just out of ideas.
