What could be the fault if there is alot of oil in the air filter

HI there,
Oil in the air filter is a sign of an engine that is breathing heavy, this is caused by worn piston rings, compression by-passes the rings and over pressurizes the sump carrying oil vapor into the air cleaner visa the PVC system, the oil then collects in the air filter.
