I have owned the car now for about 3 years and it never overheated before. Then about 6 months ago I had the heater core professionally replaced. Ever since then whenever the car is stopped it tends to overheat. It's ok when you're driving but as soon as you stop you can sit and watch the temp. gauge go up. It had never done this before the heater core was changed. And even with the heater core changed there is still no heat. It's just enough heat to defrost the windows but it doesn't warm up the car at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are many other causes of overheating insufficent coolaint, water pump belt not adjusted properly, the grill could need cleaning, thermostat, the cap could be defective or the ignition timing. My advice is to start with the cheapest if that don't work go to the next and so on I hope this helps
