fuel injecters VS high octane gas

I have a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am W6 Lt 1 5.7 (Corvette motor) 35000 mi. I usually use mid or Premium gas. I was recently told to never use premium gas in a fuel injected car because it stops up the fuel injector. (I read on here that a high performance car can use high octane gas with no problems and not using high octane can damage the engine) I assume my car considered a "High performance" car. Which of these two statements most closely fits my car concerns? My concern of this is mostly due to a problem my car has recently started having. About once in every 20-30 starts, my car will not start. There is no sound of either "clicking of battery" or "turning over of battery but no spark". If I keep trying it will eventually start. I had my battery cables tightened to no avail. BTW the cables  were not corroded.
Thank you for your help. Transamloverbyheart

Hey Trans,
You should have no problem what so ever w/ mid to premium fuel. I would also consider your motor a mid-performance type, don't get me wrong, its a great motor and am impressed @ what GM did to it. But High Performance Engines are seriously modified and fuel type is a concern with those!
As to your no-start issue ......its sounds to me that you may have a starter or starter solenoid issue and further testing may be required, and it needs to be done when the vehicle "acts up" Let us know!

Chris, Thank you for your response AND as to your statement concerning the engine performance. I really did question if this was concidered High Performance. Even though I knew it was a great engine I also knew there are HIGHER performance than this. My original question had also asked this question but I was affraid I sounded dumb because I have always been told how great it is. I appreciate your quick response and I will have it checked out!
