2001 Pontiac Montana rear brake lights burning out

2001 Pontiac Montana 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 200000 miles

I put new bulbs in and in one or two days the brake lights are burnt out and when i take out the old ones the are melted where they contact the light housing whatever its called

You are going to have to replace the circuit board. The bulbs have melted due to poor contacts in the socket. You should be able to by the whole taillamp for cheaper than the circuit board at the gm dealer.
