I need to know can a heater core cause your car to over heat i just had a head job done last month and now its over heating again also had a thermostant put in last month and my heat has stop heating what could be causing this.

Heater core (even if blocked) would not cause overheating. It heater blowing hot air?

First make sure coolant level is full, if full, take back to mechanic and have a compression/cooling system pressure test performed.
