I have a 2000 Grand Prix GTP and was driving home the other day and it stalled out and then would start but stall out if you dont keep on the gas all in all it was not drivable. Changed the fuel filter and it was a little better it would get to idle but it was rough sounded like it would stall then it would stall if you didnt keep on the gas. Thought maybe there is water in the fuel?? put dry gas in it now its back to the way it was when it stalled the 1st time. ANY IDEAS??? we are lost on this? The fuel pump comes on we can hear it so i dont know!

is this vehicle supercharged????if it is check the fuel pump resistor, they crack and fall apart, causing a stall condition, sometimes if you feather the gas it will stay running until you take your foot off the gas.this is a very common problem on the superchaged 3.8L engine.to get to the resistor remove the right front fender liner and washer bottle to see it.post back with what you find.

Yes it is supercharged. He took a part out that we think is the resisitor...does it have a white ceramic like U-Shaped with wires and a plug on the end of the wire?? If so that is BROKEN lol in pieces. Is that a special order part through GM? I added a picture too! Thanks

yes that is the fuel pump resistor, this is a very common problem.I personally would get it from GM,because the part will have a better warrenty and is better quality, but you could always check aftermarket.
