Tires and Wheels problem
1990 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I need to know what that metal mounting piece is called that runs from the bottom of the axle which looks like it runs up to the frame of the car, I am trying to help my buddy get his Grand Prix road worthy and as of right now it's sitting like the strut is gone, but the struts were recently replaced. The part in question is circled in red, thank you in advance.

It bolts front assy. To frame.

If sagging, then the arm may be bent, or there is a bushing missing, or the mounting point on body is bent/broke.

Was car in an accident?

Ok, I specified the wrong part on that diagram, here is the real part....

On the passenger side it is snapped almost right in half, assuming they ran something over like a huge rock or something...

That's the passenger side, see how it is completely turned facing the other way, that is why we think they hit something or ran something over, but other than this broken "part" the car is in excellent shape to be a 1990 Grand Prix. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

And as for the black plastic piece hanging right above it that is snapped, what is that called also? We are trying to fix it up so my buddy would have a daily driver, so I am hoping we can get a timely response.

It doesn't show in attached pic, but the one hanging down is lateral link.

The two that connect rear knuckle to frame are control arms.

Go to junk yard, find a GP and remove the suspension components, it will be FAR cheaper than a dealer or autoparts store.

Thank you very much for your help and your quick response. Also, what is the black plastic piece called? Right above it?

Not sure, but if plastic, it is most likely a covering for a component like the brake line, or electrical like a wheel sensor wire, there to keep out moisture/dirt.
