I have a 2003 pontiac grand am, and when I use the brakes, or make a right hand turn, the right wheel grinds. I would think it would be brake pads, but I just repalced them a few months ago. And also, there is black soot/discoloring on the hubcap.

Any thoughts would help, thanks

You best the the wheel and get another look at it. Maybe it's all good, but if the caliper seized or you never serviced the caliper when changing the pads, it's possible that it went metal-to metal.

IT may also be a ridge on the rotor that is wearing into the pads, if you didn't replace the rotors.

The black is from the pads. One way to get away from it, is using ceramic pads. Higher quality pads also seem less likley to give off the "soot".
