2004 Pontiac Grand Am continuous blinker clicking noise

my blinker makes the blinking noise most of the time in the dash even when my blinker is not on. my blinkers work fine when I use them and when its making the noise its not making my lights blink...its driving me nuts, and does anyone know how to make it stop or what to fix.?

Yeah... had the same problem on my 2000. Drove for 2+ years with that, until the blinkers just gave out. ONe thing is, there was a recall for this problem. If you didn't get a letter, then your year wasn't part of the recall. Mine was, went to the dealer, they didn't honor it those mother's. Said it was some problem within the internal circuitry, would cost 500+ to repair it.

Went to an independent mechanic I got reccomended. Said the problem was totally different, with the actual problem lying in the circuitry within the turn signal mechanism on the /behinf the steering wheel. So he took the steering wheel off, replaced the mechanism, $250, and done.
