the starter clicks when I turn the car over, is there something I can do without repairing the whole starter

This problem could be caused by the following, a defective battery, bad connection, ignition switch, park and neutral switch/starter itself.

Try this have helper hold key at cranking position and bang of the starter-did it kick over if so replace the starter
