I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE 4 cyl. My girlfriend was driving and she said it just wouldnt go she would hit the gas but all it did was rev up. so she pulled over and shut it off. now wen we try to start it all we hear is the starter turning. we bought a new starter and it does the same thing. could the peice that the starter turns be broke. or would it be sumthing else. i am an average guy who really only know tune ups and can keep a car nice. i just need a little advice on what to check and how to check it please. thanks

It's going to take a little investigation but you could have a broken flexplate (flywheel). That's all i can think off that would explain both symptoms.

That's a pretty big job because the transmission has to be removed. Your probably looking at over $500

Your just going to have to inspect it for that and find out where it's leaking from.
Clean it first if you have to to trace the leak to it's source and highest point.
