2000 Pontiac Grand Am Gas Filter or Timing Belt

My car starts but sounds rough. When you shift it into gear and press down on the gas petal, it completely stoprs. I replaced the gas pump about exactly a year ago. Could it be the gas filter or something more serious?

I would check the fuel filter make sure there is nothing restricting the air flow, check for any vaccum leaks pcv vavle torn listen for air seeping out of the engine while the car is running with the hood up.
