Car leaks orange fluid occasionally. Originally thought it was coolant, but coolant level seems fine. Heat will work for a few seconds, but doesn't stay warm. Engine temperature gauge went into the red for a split second, but then cooled down and stayed around 210ish.

sounds like you do have a leak. Check and see if your water pump is leaking and check and see if your lower intake gasket is leaking. You may have to pressure test the cooling system to find the leak.
