what is the specs for the RPM's at idle for a pontiac grand am? My car idles at about 800 RPM. And how do I adjust it to about 1000 RPM

Idle is not adjustable, mechanically.
Remove and clean IAC (idle air control valve).
Did you have a recent backfire, which may have bent the throttle plate?
You should also remove and clean the throttle body, deposits can form inside causing idle problems.
