two weeks ago my temperature light came on and i drove off and it went off, so i drove off and drove for two weeks and it finally ran hot again and the light came on again, then the water outlet plastic peice where the 3/4 inch heater hose hooks up broke off . does the water pump turn from the timing chain or belt? or is it seperate.

The water pump is driven by the timming chain, as for the 3/4 inch heater hose plastic connector, is that on the upper inlet mounted to the engine? The fittings on the heater core at the fire wall are metal.
