Surges during acceleration

Why do you think that my 1994 Pontiac Grand Am surges as I'm accelerating while riding on flat surfaces on cooler days (sub-50-degree days)? My mechanic mumbled something about "oil. . ." when I told him about it, but that's all I know. Thanks.

You probably have a air or coolant temp sensor that is stuck to high making you run lean. Otherwise it is probably a state of tune issue
