I headed to work, but within a few minutes the battery light came on. The lights started to dim and the wipers and heater fan were very slow. Then the ABS light came on. I went back home and when I parked the car (about 10 minutes) the engine went to a high idle. When I tried to restart it the battery was dead. I put the battery on my quick charge for about 4 hours but the battery started out at about 11.2 amps and only increased to about 12.5 according to my charger. The car did restart but after about 2 minutes the battery light came on again and when I shut it off and tried to restart it would not turn over. Bad battery?

Hi:
Either the alt is bad or the battery itself. Fully charge the battery and have it load tested at a parts store. If it passes and is good, remove the alt and have it bench tested at the parts store. One will be bad.
