Need some help, the tranny will not shift from 1st gear, we have changed the transmission filter & put new fluid in. However the local auto part stores don't know what a TV Cable is. Is there another name for this cable? Is there anything else we can do to attempt to fix the problem?

The TV cable a.k.a. transmission shift cable, throttle valve cable is rarely adjustable for vehicles that are not carbureted.

Transmission line pressure needs to be checked first. Near the transmission range switch is a small bolt about 8mm sticking out. You will need a fluid pressure gauge with the correct adapter to check it. Chances are the pump has failed only giving enough pressure for first. You may have to purchase one as AutoZone does not loan it.

Good luck,
