I have a 1995 Trans Am that overheats after 30 minutes of running, I have replaced the water pump, radiator, thermostat and gasket, both ect sensors (gauge and computer) and still overheats. Does not have exhaust in coolant or coolant coming out of exhaust, does not appear to be blown heads, has power but overheats. There are four hoses on water pump everything gets hot it feels like it is circulating. Could this be because of air in system? I have bled system several times not getting air. Overflow tank has a hair line crack.

The simplest way to test the water pump is to drive the car for about 10-20 minutes. Open the hood and tuch the top radiator hose. If it is hot, coolant is circulating, indicating that the water pump is working. Another test is to squeez the top radiator hose with your fingers and slowly release it. You should feel a serge of pressure. If these tests rule out the water pump as the cause of the problem, the radiator cap seal could be bad, allowing pressure to escape. Replace the cap. If problem continues, you may need a new radiator. Not sure if air in the system could cause over heating, but I do know that loss of pressure can. Also make sure that your cooling fan is working. Good Luck!

One more thing, your coolant level could be too low. If there is a crack in the recovery tank, this could be where you are losing coolant.

when water pumps go the usually start leaking from a braring going bad, check to make sure there is not a blockage in front of the radiator. sometimes leaves and other things get caught by the air conditioning cooler cutting down on the air circulating to the radiator..
