The "idiot light" "security" in the instrument cluster comes on and stays on. It remains lit as long as the car is running. There are no driveability, performance, or starting problems. We have 2 different keys with the chip resistor in them, either one used to start the car has identical response. There are no other warning lights coming on and all gauges read normal. The owners manual states that a constantly lit security warning light means some module could have failed and to see the dealer. We do not have the funds right now to pay dealer charges, and we are just driving the car ignoring the light. The key fob only has a lock/unlock and hatch feature. No panic alarm etc. And the key fob really has not been used in quite a while. I used an electronic spray cleaner in the key slot thinking maybe dirt got in there, but I realized the electric connection through the key chip must be working correctly as the car starts easily each and every time. Thank you in advance for your time in helping me hopefully get this repaired.

Try unplugging the theft deterrant module, turn key to run position. If light doesnt come on the problem is inthe lock cylinder or wiring harness, If they are ok replace the module. If it does light there is a short in the wiring of terminal A5 on the module (gray wire) and the dash terminal A3
